What are Water Calculations?

Water efficiency calculations provide you with results based on occupancy, fittings and flow rates.

When building or converting a home you need to comply with Part G of the building regulations. This states that water use should not exceed 125 litres per person, per day. However, some developments may need to meet tighter targets depending on planning requirements.

If your property does not comply this will have a negative impact on your SAP rating and may stop your SAPS from complying to the required building regulations..

How Are The Water Calculations Produced?

We base our water efficiency calculations on the methodology in the Approved Document G –The Government’s national calculation.

When calculating water efficiency we will review your plans to check it against the required regulations. We calculate the flow rate information from:

  • Toilets
  • Baths
  • Showers
  • Taps
  • White Goods

What’s The Process?

Firstly, we will take a look at your plans, and based off of the information you give us in relation to the above and what’s within your property, we calculate the water efficiency of your dwelling.

Once calculated, we will issue you with the required documentation for you to give to building control.

If your property does not comply with the regulations, we will offer our recommendations to enable you to get things right and pass. All are assessors are fully qualified and endeavour to give you the best possible service.
